Classic Dungeons And Dragons Game Baldur S Gate Dark Alliance Now Available On Steam

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance was originally released back in 2001 on the PlayStation 2 console before being ported to a variety of other consoles. The list of consoles Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance can be played on now includes PS4 and Xbox One. However, this is the first time the classic action RPG has been ported to PC.

Fans of the Baldur’s Gate franchise may find Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance to be a mix of fresh and old-school ideas, some of which hold up better than others. However, it can’t be denied that this title took an approach to action RPG combat that has more in common with Diablo than most other Baldur’s Gate titles. A trailer for the PC port shared to the Lewis Burnell YouTube channel does a good job of shedding some light on Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance’s approach to enemies, traps, and co-op, among other features.

Apparently, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance will allow players to use Steam remote play for long-distance co-op. This may be good news, as co-op is an important aspect of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance gameplay. The trailer also shows off several classic monsters found throughout Dungeons and Dragons, including what appears to be a Beholder, a swarm of animated skeletons, and even a massive white dragon.

Additionally, the trailer highlights a number of elements that seem to be borrowed from the platforming genre. One scene follows a player as they leap across a number of floating stone platforms that drop into the abyss after a few seconds, while other scenes appear to show players jumping over the shockwaves from magical attacks. With the future of Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance seemingly up in the air, this may be a good time for Baldur’s Gate fans to return to another classic game. Some old games are worth remembering, even if they’ve begun to show their age.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One with a Switch version also in the works.
